Family Dentistry

Family dentistry cares for patients that span all age groups with a focus on keeping teeth healthy through all stages of life. The best time to start practicing good oral hygiene is when you are very young. Maintaining healthy teeth is important for both children and adults. We look after the whole families dental needs. We enjoy seeing both adults and children in our practice.

A family dental check up includes:
• General tooth cleaning to ensure teeth and gums are healthy and prevent gum disease
• Minimizing buildup of plaque
• Preventing tooth decay
• Filling cavities
Family dentists are considered the first line of defense against any dental abnormalities. General dentistry is more focused on preventive care. It is recommended by the Australian Dental Association that you visit your family dentist a minimum of twice a year. These routine check ups will provide cleaning to eliminate plaque build up and prevent tooth decay as well as healthy gums. They may also provide fluoride treatments to help coat the teeth. This procedure is extremely important in the prevention and management of tooth decay before you show signs of any symptoms.

On occasion, X-rays may be taken to help detect cavities and other tooth problems. If a cavity is detected during your visit, your dentist can provide treatment with a dental filling before it develops into a more serious problem. If ignored, crown or dental implants may be required.
